After much delay, the highly anticipated Rivian R1T electric pickup finally rolled off the production line at its Normal, Illinois plant in September 2021. The launch also made Rivian the first electric pickup. to arrive on the American market, well before the behemoths of the automobile General Motors, Tesla among others.
The Rivian R1T 2022 electric pickup truck ticks most of the boxes a customer expects from a typical half-ton pickup truck. The new EV pickup offers nearly 314 miles (approximately 505 km) of range, as well as a variable height suspension designed to improve fuel efficiency and increase available ground clearance. On the road, it has enough power to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.0 seconds and can tow up to 11,000 pounds (almost 5,000 kg), which makes it impressive in itself. The unconventional Rivian R1T powertrain could take some time to find its way into the highly competitive pickup segment in the United States. However, apart from the EV drivetrain, the R1T has some advantages over its gasoline counterparts.
Here are nine cool features we love about the Rivian R1T 2022.
Unique Key: To take things to the next level of an active lifestyle, the key ring is shaped like a carabiner.
The Gear Tunnel: This interesting specification works as an additional storage space that intelligently passes between the cabin and the bed, it is accessible from either side of the EV pickup. It not only offers extra space to secure long items, but also has attachments for some of the upcoming accessories like the camp kitchen and ironing board like Shuttle.
On-Board Air Compressor: This awesome feature comes in handy not only for general utility but also when traveling off-road. It comes with a removable line long enough to reach one of the electric vehicle’s tires for recharges after an off-road crossing. Vehicle owners can adjust the pressure and push a button to ventilate.
Camp Speaker: The portable bluetooth enabled speaker weighs just 5 pounds and snugly docks in the R1T’s center console for easy storage when not in use. It charges when stored or can be individually charged using an external USB Type-C port when docking is not possible.
Gear Guard Camera: This feature of the R1T helps prevent theft or at least register perpetrators. It is activated once the Gear Guard cables are secured around the cargo in the bed and if someone tries to pull on the cable when the vehicle is locked, a screen inside the car will light up for them. scare them and let them know that they are being recorded / filmed.
Under-Bed Storage: In another cleverly designed room, the R1T’s bed is easily accessible for the spare tire. Otherwise, the stowed unit can double up to keep things safe and dry if vehicle owners choose to leave the tire behind.
Roof and Bed Cross Bars: Roof rails can be rare in trucks of any type because they are tedious to install, but bars covering the bed are more common. The R1T EV offers both with the same set of accessory crossbars that can fit over the roof or across the bed or it can also be used for a tent.
The frunk: The popular combination of “front and trunk” is a secure, weather-resistant storage unit in the nose of the R1T. Measuring nearly 11 cubic feet, it’s as good as a two-door coupe.
Flashlight with Integrated Door Pocket: Last but not least, the folks at Rivian put a flashlight in the EV pickup. Just that the practical gadget has its own integrated door pocket.
