Mack Trucks TEC Equipment Dealer Achieves Certified Electric Vehicle Dealership Status

Mack Trucks announced that TEC Equipment in Oakland, CA is now a Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer and will now be able to service and support the Mack LR Electric garbage truck. Mack made the announcement at the ACT Expo, May 9-12, at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach Claif. This is the third TEC Equipment location in California to be EV certified. The first was Fontana and La Mirada was the second. TEC Oakland is a Mack Certified Uptime Reseller.

Electric vehicle certification requires dealers to meet many stringent infrastructure, safety, charging, tooling and training requirements. Updating the installation is also required. TEC met frequently with the Mack team during the process to ensure they met all standards to be EV certified.

TEC Oakland, located at 8099 S. Coliseum Way, has 18 service bays, three of which are dedicated to electric vehicles. The site has 12 technicians, six of whom are master technicians and two are EV certified. The 45,000 square foot, 6.5 acre site offers a $2.3 million parts inventory, with over 22,500 parts in stock.

Delivering 42% more energy, the next generation from Mack LR Electric features a standard total battery capacity of 376kWh for longer range between charges. Twin electric motors produce 448 continuous HP and 4,051 lb-ft. of peak torque output from zero rpm.

Four nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide (NMC) lithium-ion batteries, charged via a 150kW charging system that complies with SAE J1772, power the vehicle and all on-board accessories via 12V, 24V and 600V circuits. The two-stage regenerative braking system helps recover energy from the hundreds of stops the vehicle makes each day with increasing load.
